I'm developing an autorigging tool in Maya for humanoid characters using Python.
The tool begins by loading a JSON file containing pre-placed locators, which can be manually adjusted to match the character's proportions. After positioning, users can generate joints based on the locator positions, then create base animation controls. A binding function is included to skin the mesh to the rig for animation.
The tool also supports creating custom controls and color coding them for better organization. Upcoming features include support for a reverse foot lock setup and an IK spline system for the spine.
